City & Country School New Logo

This article was written for the City & Country School newspaper ‘Paper Plane’ by Anna, a 14 year City & County School student.

Several changes have been happening in our school. A lot of construction has been going on, and next year there will be a new building, but those aren’t the only thing going on. Our School will also have a new look. Our School’s identity or ‘look’ also is being redesigned by ‘Meter Industries,’ a design company. Next year there will be a new logo, view book, website and even a new sign in front of the School. “We wanted to do C&C_Logo_Fin something that felt more current,” said Marty Weiss Creative Director for the project, and XIII’s parent. “We wanted to create a clear, distinct identity that captures C&C’s uniqueness.”

The new logo is blocky, simplified and bold, referring to the school as just C&C instead of the old fashioned City & Country. Marty Weiss said the logo was influenced by several elements of the school. “…from the blocks to the printing press, and other open ended materials,” he said.

The School has also been photographed for the view book and the website. Some of the photos will be put into the archives. The photographer, Mark Weiss, has been in each of the classrooms.

“We’re taking pictures of the kids and the environment, but also of objects that can either represent the School or area part of the School,” said Mark Weiss, the photographer. He said that he was trying to capture “the flavor of the School.” He concluded by saying, “It’s gunna be cool. Your School is very photogenic.”

The students in the XIII’s had mixed feelings about the logo. Sophie Siverstein said, “I think it’s cool. It’s definitely a step up from whatever logo we had before.”

“It’s cool, new and modern, but it loses some of the character and history behind it,” said Maya Moverman.

“I don’t think that it really represents the School,” Kiara Vaughn agreed. “To be honest I don’t really like how the School has changed itself to be so modern.”

“I like it, but for some reason it doesn’t seem City and Country-y,” Josephine Viemeister said.

“Why is it blue?” TJ Blitzer asked. ‘It should be green!”

Although some people resisted the change, the new logo has tried to keep the School’s personality. The updated logo will be starting to show its face next year, and soon it will become just another part of the School.
